The Annual G.H. Dawe Run is being held September 19th. Forms were sent home on September 8th. Please see a copy of the letter that was sent home below.

 

Dawe Run Information

Dear Students and Parents,

The following information will help you prepare for the Dawe Run on Tuesday, September 19th.

Please be sure to have proper running shoes (no heelies and tightened laces) and clothes.  If you are a runner, shorts and t-shirt are best.  If you are a walker, sweat or wind pants may be best.  Watch the weather forecast so you can dress appropriately. If your child uses an inhaler, please make sure he/she brings it with him/her that day.

We will have the grade 4’s leave (by bus) for the race at 10:00 a.m.  The grade 5’s will depart at approx.10:45 a.m.  Students are bused to Heritage Ranch and then they walk on the path to the starting area, in a field, at the bottom of the hill.  The race will finish at Great Chief Park, approximately 20-40 minutes after the start time. 

Students start their run in the following order:

         11:00 a.m.        Grade 4 girls       

         11:15 a.m.        Grade 4 boys      

         11:30 a.m.        Grade 5 girls

         11:45 a.m.        Grade 5 boys

From the starting area they will run on the path, along the river, to Bower Ponds. The location of the finish line has moved this year due to construction. Students will be directed to the new finish line/meeting area.  After the run, students will gather at the G.W. Smith banner, and then return to the school to eat. Your child will need to bring a lunch for this day, include an extra large snack for recess and an extra juice or water with lunch. 

As many of you know, Margaretrose Willms passed away in July. She was the principal at St. Pat’s for 3 years and helped organize the Dawe Run. The 2017 Dawe Run is dedicated to Margaretrose. On the day

of the run please wear green as it was her favorite color (huge fan of the Saskatchewan Roughriders). Also, Rob Willms (husband and father) and his family will start the first race.

How you can help us:

1)    Parent to go to the perimeter of the parking lot of Bower Ponds Pavilion @ 10:30  (or earlier) and set up site for water/snack and school banner

2)    Donation of bottles of water and snack for our runners.
